This page has photos from the "PEACE" assembly in Hampton in March, '04.
On July 2 a group assembled in Storrs, Ct, to spell "TRUTH", "VOTE" and form the Women's Peace Symbol. (Click to see those images)

I feel very honored to have been asked to record this action. On the first pass to photograph the word completed with naked bodies, I was unprepared for the strength of my own emotional response and I failed to get the image properly. I'm an old hippie and I couldn't imagine that a group of naked bodies would startle me so.
Donna Sheehan writes on the website www.baringwitness.com about the power of women's naked bodies to catch men's attention. I think it's much more than sex. It's erotic in the larger sense, full of courage, beauty, strength and vulnerability all at the same time. It reminds us that, more than we love control and power, we love our partners and families and the feminine principle that completes us. It's also shames us that so many women would lay their flesh on such rough, cold ground (that is snow in the treeline) just to get our attention.
There are college students and grandmothers down there, women who started famous business, a journalist, several highly-respected counselors, teachers and a mother nursing a baby. Whatever jokes they may make to dispell their nervous awe, any man must be deeply affected. Donna Sheehan wrote: "If men are publicly confronted by large numbers of naked women protesting the distinctly male phenomenon of war, it could begin a shift of consciousness." Amen!
